A note on the work:

The »GAZ/A« series came about late 2023 and 2024, when I documented (collected through the camera) cast-iron gaz (French for ‘gas’) sidewalk covers, seen throughout the streets of Paris and environs. The resulting concertina work features 80 photographs of the GAZ covers with the letter ‘A’ hand-drawn in red oil pastel atop each image.

Seen together they form a poignant and prolonged meditation on the widely condemned atrocities being committed by the Zionist entity in Palestine. »GAZ/A« scrutinizes “Israel’s premeditated intentions to displace the Palestinians from their historical lands and confiscate their natural resources.”

— Walid Abuhelal, “The War on Gaza is also an Israeli drive to seize Palestinian gas reserves”, Middle East Eye, 20 February 2024.

In June 2025 Enjoy Contemporary Art Space donated NZD $2000 from the first fundraiser that we held together during my exhibition, »Iterations/Alterations«. Since then, a further two donations have been made as I continue the fundraiser.

It was a pleasure to share a selection at Good Form’s MAKERS MARKET 11-12 October, Tāmaki Makaurau.

Ngā mihi nui to all who have generously supported this mahi toi for Palestine.
